Play 18 holes between the ocean and the lagoon in Ouidah Benin's first international course, expected in 2027

Be sure to visit the Ouidah Golf Club as soon as it opens, which is scheduled for early 2027: located in Avlékété on Route des Pêches, the course stretches out along the Atlantic Ocean.

About

A trail born of the landscape

In Avlékété, on the Route des Pêches between Cotonou and Ouidah, the ocean and the lagoon are separated only by a strip of dunes. It is on this strip of land that the Ouidah Golf Club has laid out its 18-hole course, on a vast site that incorporates the local vegetation.

Here, you’ll play with the Atlantic Ocean as your ever-present backdrop. Beginners and experienced players alike will feel right at home, with a high-end clubhouse to wind down the day. In Avlékété, people often say that the sea moves to the same rhythm as the people.

Highlights You Won't Want to Miss

  • The course: It follows the contours of the land and winds around the bodies of water, nestled among the coastal vegetation. A spectacular setting for a round of golf, between sky and water.
  • Getting Started: You don’t have to be a golfer—introductory sessions and lessons will be offered to help you learn the basics of the game at your own pace. It’s a great way to try your hand at this sport with the ocean as your backdrop.
  • Arriving via the lagoon: You can reach the club by road or—for a more unique experience—by boat through the lagoon. It’s a great way to start the day gliding across the water before teeing off on the first hole.
